A good attempt to bring facts and fiction in one bowl... But I really got irritated with the reader... He is putting so many unwanted effects... Really effected the mood of the story...

Good book.

Why did it end so abruptly.

Another masterpiece like Pacha, Manja, Chuvappu’. Lots of historical subplots. It needs a super brain to create such a fiction. You will be tempted to Google a lot of things after listening to this. Rajesh K Puthumana is a phenomenal narrator. He adds a new dimension to the listening experience. Now I started searching titles narrated by him.

I have read this book when it got published, so probably in my late teens. I don't remember how I finished reading it back then. Because when I listened to it, I felt so bad about myself, for suggesting this book to many others. Maybe, it is me. I changed and became a better human being. Because now I feel this is one of the most disturbing novels in Malayalam, with extreme anxiety inducing violence, gross torture, cannibalism, and so on. The way the author adds details of sexual abuses and how sexual objectification is romanticised might trigger panic in many. In short some perspectives in the novel have total disregard for human life.Now regarding audiobook, it is presented as a long mimicry. Reader is taking more effort to imitate. Also the sound recordist was so lazy that there are long silent portions after some chapters. Also after the first chapter or something, he even forgot to cut the portion where the reader is mentioning that pronunciation must be wrong in some areas.

The book is in no doubt a cult in malayalam literature. But the narrator really killed the book it was gd when narration is going on but when it comes to dialogues the modulation and variations of the sound really affected the mood of the book. No need to do this type of over dramtic voice over. A normal voice modulation will do justice to the book.
